Google Integrations: An Overview for Your Store
Explore IHASHOP’s connections with the Google ecosystem. Learn what Google Merchant Center, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, and Google Search Console do and where each integration is managed in the administration panel.
Overview of Google Integrations
Google is not a single tool for e-commerce businesses. It is a comprehensive ecosystem made up of interconnected services.
IHASHOP provides five essential Google services ready for use in your e-commerce store:
- Google Merchant Center
- Google Analytics 4
- Google Tag Manager
- Google Ads
- Google Search Console
You do not need to add code to theme files, upload files to your server, or request developer support for every setup process. Required connections and identification details can be configured directly through the IHASHOP administration panel.
What Does Each Google Service Do?
Google Merchant Center
Google Merchant Center allows you to list your products as visual product cards in Google Shopping and eligible Google search results.
It is recommended to set up Merchant Center as soon as your products are published in your store.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Google Analytics 4 measures how many visitors come to your store, which products they view, which products they add to their carts, and at which stage they leave the shopping process.
Because Google Analytics does not collect historical data retroactively, it is recommended to complete the setup before your store goes live.
Google Tag Manager (GTM)
Google Tag Manager allows you to manage Google Analytics, Google Ads, and other measurement or advertising tags from a single platform.
Using Google Tag Manager can simplify management when you plan to use multiple analytics or advertising tags.
Google Ads
Google Ads allows you to measure how many visits, orders, and sales are generated by your advertising expenditure. It also helps you display advertisements again to users who have previously visited your store.
It is recommended to configure conversion tracking before launching your Google Ads campaigns.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console allows you to monitor which search terms display your store, your average positions in Google search results, and which pages have been indexed.
It is recommended to verify your website in Search Console when your domain name goes live.
Where Are Google Integrations Managed?
IHASHOP Google integrations are managed from two main administration screens.
Settings → SEO and Analytics
The following Google service identifiers and verification details are configured on this screen:
- Google Analytics 4 measurement ID
- Google Tag Manager container ID
- Google Ads conversion ID
- Google Ads purchase conversion label
- Google Search Console site verification code
You only need to paste the identifier or verification code obtained from the relevant Google service into the corresponding field and save your settings.
SEO → Product Feeds
The processes used to send your products to Google are managed from this screen:
- Google Merchant Center connection
- Google account authorization
- Product submission to Merchant Center
- Product submission status tracking
- Google Shopping XML feed address
- Price and stock synchronization
Recommended Setup Order
Google services are not entirely independent from one another. Some services use verification details or product information provided by other Google services.
For this reason, it is recommended to follow the setup order below.
1. Complete Google Search Console Verification
Search Console verification proves to Google that the store domain belongs to you. Google Merchant Center may also check the domain verification and domain claim status.
2. Set Up Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics does not collect data retroactively, so measurement should begin as early as possible.
Installing it before the store goes live ensures that visitor and sales data are collected from the first day.
3. Connect Google Merchant Center
After the connection is completed, you can send the products in your store to Google Merchant Center and submit them for review so they can appear in Google Shopping results.
4. Configure Google Ads Conversion Tracking
When you plan to advertise through Google Ads, conversion tracking should be configured before your campaigns are launched.
This allows you to measure how many sales your advertisements generate and how much revenue they produce.
The Difference Between Google Analytics and Merchant Center
Google Analytics and Google Merchant Center are often confused with one another. However, the two services perform different functions.
Google Analytics 4 measures the visitors coming to your store and their activities within the storefront.
Google Merchant Center introduces the products in your store to Google and allows them to become eligible for Google Shopping results.
Having Google Analytics installed does not mean that your products are being submitted to Google Shopping.
Similarly, connecting Merchant Center does not mean that visitor and sales measurement has started.
Both services must be installed and configured separately.
Is Google Tag Manager Required?
Google Tag Manager is not mandatory.
When you only plan to use Google Analytics 4, entering the GA4 measurement ID directly into the IHASHOP administration panel is sufficient.
When you plan to use Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, or other advertising and analytics services together, Google Tag Manager can make it easier to manage all tags from one central platform.
You should not configure Google Analytics both directly through the IHASHOP panel and through Google Tag Manager at the same time. Doing so may cause visits, events, and conversions to be counted twice.
Is Coding or Theme File Editing Required?
No. The basic setup processes for IHASHOP’s built-in Google integrations do not require changes to theme files.
Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, and site verification information are added through the store’s shared system layer.
As a result, your configured Google integrations continue working even when you change your store theme.
Google Merchant Center connections and product submission processes are managed through the SEO → Product Feeds screen.
